چکیده

We present the soft x-ray spectroscopic study of the ultra-nanocrystalline diamond (UNCD) films with different surface treatments. The samples were prepared by means of microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MPECVD) and the different surface treatments are applied to alter their field emission properties. The electronic properties were subsequently examined by the soft x-ray absorption and x-ray emission spectroscopy at carbon 1s threshold. From the experimental results, there is no significant variation in electronic structure of oxygenand hydrogen-plasma treated UNCD films. On the other hand, the biased treated UNCD film shows more remarkable change on the sp and sp states. The formation of sp bonding and the reduction of sp bonding are the consequence of the improved electron field emission properties. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Laser Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of CVD Nanocrystalline Diamond Thin Film

Laser micro-Raman spectroscopy is an ideal tool for assessment and characterization of various types of carbon-based materials. Due to its special optical properties (CrN) coated stainless steel substrates. NCD films have been investigated by laser micro-Raman spectroscopy. The fingerprint of diamond based materials is in the spectral region of 1000-1600 cm-1 in the first order of Raman scatter...

Effect of Cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine on the WetSynthesis of Ultra-nanocrystalline Diamond

The Ultra-nanocrystalline diamond (UNCD) was synthesized by the detonation of a high explosive mixture in water confinement. The presence of a diamond phase was revealed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). X-ray line broadening (XRLB) was used to evaluate the peak profiles of diamond nanoparticles and their corresponding average crystallite sizes. The micro st...

Effects of UV irradiation treated polycarbonate substrates on properties of nanocrystalline TiO2 sol-gel derived thin films

In this study, in order to achieve effective coating of the homogeneous titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin film, UV irradiation pre-treatment was carried out to activate PC surfaces before coating. Sol-gel-based nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films were prepared by employing tetrabutyl-titanate as a precursor. Nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films were deposited by sol-gel spin coating on the treated substrates...

Characterization of amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films

Amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films possess special chemical and physical properties such as high chemical inertness, diamond-like properties, and favorable tribological proprieties. The materials usually consist of graphite and diamond microstructures and thus possess properties that lie between the two. Amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films can exist in different kinds of matrices...

Nitrogen incorporation and trace element analysis of nanocrystalline diamond thin films by secondary ion mass spectrometry

Nitrogen has been successfully incorporated into nanocrystalline diamond films produced by a CH4 /N2 microwave plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition method. High mass resolution secondary ion mass spectrometry ~SIMS! characterization shows that the density of the incorporated nitrogen, monitored via CN, can be as high as 10 atoms/cm, depending on the ratio of CH4 to N2 in the reactant gas a...
